Executive Chef - Nick Ocheltree
Nick Ocheltree holds the title of Executive Chef at 3rd Block Depot Kitchen + Bar, a restaurant located in the W New Orleans French Quarter Hotel. Growing up in Bellville, Ohio, Nick's mother and grandmother taught him a lot about food; not only the cooking, but the gardening, canning, and how to preserve the harvest and the joy of sharing the abundance with loved ones.
He loved helping his grandmother out with preparing meals for big holidays, and the feeling that came along with seeing his family enjoy meals that he made.
Nick attended culinary school at The Pennsylvania Institute of Culinary Arts. He got his start in the industry working at a Golf Resort in Northeast Florida as part of his externship program where he was given the opportunity to work at their beach club. His success in this role led to becoming the club's head Chef.
Nick spent 16 years working at the Sawgrass Marriott Resort. Nick finds his inspiration for new dishes by checking out other restaurants. Seeing what others create can give you a look into someone else's creative process. Also, using what is locally available and in season.
